Happy Birthday to Oliver!

This past Sunday one of Paige's very first friends turned 5 and she was invited to help him celebrate!  Oliver was one of the core group of kids Paige had the privilege of spending her first years with at Aveda Child's Garden , her first school and he was her very favorite friend as well.  She started at just 7 months old, not yet crawling but on the verge.  I was so nervous to bring her that very first day, leaving her in a room with a bunch of strangers and away from home, I took comfort in the fact that my Mom was just down the hall.  I can remember her so clearly sitting in the middle of the floor watching me leave in a little peach summer onesie...

Well in no time I came to know the other kids, babies if you will, in her class and their Mom's.  There were about six of them who were all born within a few months of each other and over the next few years they grew to love one another like siblings.  I guess spending 40 hours a week together in a small room will do that.  At each new level they would move together, from the infant room to the toddler room to the preschool room.  Until that sad day came that it was time to move on to a new school.

Since that day in December 2009 we have tried to get together every few months so the kids could keep in touch and each time they fall right back into step like they have hardly been apart...and this party was no exception.  By the time the party was over Paige and Oliver looked like best buds racing through the park until it was time to head home.  The party was a blast and I was so happy that I brought along my camera because there was a very special visitor who came just to see Oliver.

When we first arrived the kids got a chance to play at the park for awhile before lunch and I have to say, this park was like nothing I had been to before, it was fantastic!!

After the kids played for awhile it was time to head back to the party and have some lunch!

Then it was time for the Darth Vader pinata, Star Wars cake and of course...presents!

You will never guess who showed up.  Paige's eyes just about popped out of her head!!!

Then out of nowhere the black "bad" Spiderman showed up and started fighting with the "good" Spiderman.  It was pretty cool, they were jumping into the air kicking and twisting with each other until the kids finally chased him off.   Quite the sight to see, 20 - 5 year olds yelling while they chased the bad Spiderman all through the park until he disappeared into the woods.  It caused quite the scene!  The kids loved it, especially Paige.  Both Spiderman's came back at the end to show that they were friends and that it was important to eat their fruits ands vegetables and pose for photos with the kids.  Paige soaked it all up, she couldn't get enough of them.  Last night she even had me print off a few pictures so that she could bring them to school to show her friends.

Then on the way home she said...
"Momma, next week, for my 5 year old birthday party...I want Jacob, Edward and Bella to come..."
Uh...Oh...

A Bit of a Problem

This past Saturday we had a pretty good storm roll through which happened to give us a bit more rainfall than we could handle.  Since this was maybe a once in a childhood event I took Paige to check it out.

Little Weed

It wasn't that long ago that I told Paige that I didn't want her to grow up... to which she firmly replied...I am getting bigger every day and there is nothing you can do to stop it.  Well there you have it.  I remember hearing her sweet little voice saying those big words as my eyes welled up with tears.  Now I sit here with yet another sweet child trying to get bigger before my eyes.  Last night we transitioned Quinn's crib to a toddler bed.  It was long overdue as he has been crawling out almost nightly for about three months... Even so, it is still a big next step, a milestone if you will.  My little pooh-bear getting all big boy on me.  Well at least we know that Paige can expect a better nights sleep now that her little brother won't be climbing on her head in the middle of the night as he flees his crib....
