Happy Birthday Baby!!

It has been a very big week at our house, Paige turned 5 last Saturday.  We had decided to have a small celebration at our house for her special day as we had done every year since she was born.  I really didn't think much of it until a few days prior when she really started getting excited, that she may be ready for more.  As you could see in my previous post about Oliver's birthday...the bar had been set high.  And she too was excited about her friends coming to her 5 year old birthday...only that they weren't.  Hmmm, well I felt a little bad about that, but truthfully, I am not quite ready for that type of party yet.  What we did decide to do was to invite her special friend Dylan along for a fun day together the following weekend making it her birthday week rather that just one special day!

Saturday, August 13th 2011 ~ 5 Years Old

One thing that Paige did make very clear was that she really, really wanted a pinata.  She asked for a Batman one, but I could only find Spiderman and since her party was a "Super Hero" party and all I knew she would love it.   I wondered how Paige would feel being that it may only be she and Quinn to break it open.  It made me feel totally lame by comparison to the last party we attended where 20 children lined up to have a turn...next year there will be friends.  I was so happy that Paige's cousin's Erin and Emily were able to come to the party so there would be a few kids there and Paige had a blast with them.  They are so patient with her despite their vast age difference.  Poor Quinn didn't get to play as he slept right through everything!

What do you know, the pinata head doubles as a mask!

Per Paige's request we served hot dogs to the kids and burgers and ribs to the grown ups.  Paige was actually very patient waiting to open gifts!  It made all the difference in the world that she had Erin and Emily to play with.  Once the time came she was ready!

She recieved so many great gifts!  Ken doll cloths and a savings bond from her Granny.  A Justin Bieber vest, a pirate and Elmo shirt for school, Star Wars legos, a Spiderman hover craft and DS game from Auntie Shy, Uncle Mike, Erin & Emily.  A new CD player with Justin Bieber CD and a stamp kit from Papa & Grandma Cheri.   And a jean jacket, Batman house and Spiderman bike from Mom, Dad and Quinn.
What a haul!!!

Each year I try do make a special cake for Paige's birthday and this year was no exception.  In the weeks prior she wavered from a baseball cake to a Star Wars cake to a Batman cake.  Then I found a Super Hero cake online and showed it to her.  That was the one!  She was excited!  And I had to make it...oh goo.
It took ALOT of time but in the end turned out pretty good I thought!  The best part was not only did she love it, but everyone said it was pretty darn tasty too!

Happy Birthday baby girl!!!  We love you!   Mom, Dad & Quinn

Later that night Quinn decided to make his appearance and turned out to be is a great mood after sleeping the party away...
